Secret Principles of Immortality, Edition 25

In the previous article, I came to the conclusion that there were sixteen principals which describe the minimal path to immortality, in a temporal context in which one engages the earlier functions of principle, athletics, medicine, and adaptation.

The sixth principles are the following, translating slowly: (1) Desire for mystery, (2) Art, (3) Proverb, (4) Thirst for reality, (5) Clarity , (8) Living mystery, (9) Paradoxical answers, 10 Secret power, 11 Test of merit, 12 Law of self, 13 Proof of existence, 14 Casting a spell, Diabolical value, (16) Test of mastery

Now we will consider the entities that result, so that we know what is represented by every stage of the initiative into immortality. I will consider these in reverse, so that the highest object is first on the mind:

Let's say these are arranged in order of their appearance hierarchically. This involves printing them in four rows of four, and taking 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 1.3, 2.2, 3.1, 1.4, 2.3, 3.2, 4.1, 2.4, 3.3, 4.2, 3.4, 4.3, 4.4

Taking those elements, I get the following hierarchy:

Master, Poet,
Artist, Caster,
Patron, Performer,

Presumably that list could provide a temporal guide to which things are achievable in seeking immortality, either beginning with one end or the other, depending on whether the person is a generalist or a specialist in multiple ways.

Let us look at the collapsed functions of the hierarchy. These are reached by looking at the first and last element as a duality, and reaching middle terms only by reaching through the list from both ends and gathering elements on the way.

At each stage I will provide a description which is my sense of the meaning of the combination.

Master <-> Epicure

Description: The feeling of immortality, versus the nature of actually being immortal. Discretion is a good word for this.


Description: Someone who accepts things as they are. Who knows what is simple and complex.


Description: Someone who uses exceptions to realize the fullest potential.


Description: Someone who realizes the spiritual aspect of life, and the overall importance of intentality.


Description: Someone who approaches life with wisdom, and a view to the newness of life.


Description: Someone who accepts apparent reality, literal meaning, and outside importance.


Description: Someone who sees that some things have importance.


Description: Someone who sees the secret nature of things.

Now I will re-write the descriptions backwards to show the progress towards general achievement:

Someone who sees the secret nature of things. Someone who sees that some things have importance. Someone who accepts apparent reality, literal meaning, and outside importance. Someone who approaches life with wisdom, and a view to the newness of life. Someone who realizes the spiritual aspect of life, and the overall importance of intentality. Each description can also be used as a stage of philosophical wisdom.

In an earlier article (Edition 19) it was stated that, if a philosopher represents wisdom, then wisdom is the second stage: 1. Stated opinion, 2. Philosopher, 3. Seer, 4. Trickster

Thus, it may be anticipated that the most development occurs in the last two stages, where we have by comparison, 'seer of wisdom', and 'ultimate trickery', or 'ultimate seer' and 'tricky wisdom.' Or, simply wisdom and the ultimate.

Mid-Life Crisis? The Aging Process and Five Steps to Looking Ten Years Younger

As we reach our middle years we have an expectation that our bodies will begin letting us down and we 'feel' old.

Hitting 40 is a new frontier in your life. You can start looking at yourself and your needs. What is it you really like? What do you want out of your life? It's time to look forward to a life for you. Nothing is impossible, even looking ten years younger.

You can create a future where you stay 'feeling', as well as, looking young. There really is nothing to be afraid of; you need to embrace this new freedom and begin living for yourself.

This starts with feeling good about you; ensuring you feel as young as you are, not as old as you think! The aging process is not a given. It is about how you feel and much of that has to do with how you look. If you're feeling sluggish and gray, it may all be a matter of the mind rather than a permanent state of play.

Consider what you eat; the more processed food you consume the less healthy you become. Take an honest look at your food intake and really do something about it permanently. Make that promise to yourself.

You also need to ensure you keep moving. Many people spend far too much time sitting. You need movement in your life no matter what your age. Rather than slowing down and doing less, try walking a bit more. Pop to the shops on foot, even if it is for a take-away! Have a stroll in the local park a bit more often, no matter what the weather ..

More than anything, though, you really do need to have an upbeat attitude about things that can happen in life, good or bad. If it's good, really feel it. If it's bad, think about how it could be worse. Try to learn from the experience and turn it around so it is not 'as bad' as it could be.

Being gloomy and depressed can only make you ill and dull; try taking meditation classes or any classes (sometimes doing something you've always wanted to do but never had the opportunity). Help yourself to live a fuller, more productive life – one that can be filled with laughter and joy.

Being healthy in mind and body can only help you to stay feeling and looking younger.

A Promising Amino

Amino acids are incredible health nutrients that most people know very little about. However they are involved in every chemical reaction in the body. They are essential for overall common health and reversing the aging process. Scientists now broadly define aging as the inability of the body to restore or rebuild itself. Guess what amino acids do ?? You got it. They rebuild the body.

A lot is known about vitamins, minerals and healthy eating. Just watch the media. Little is said about amino acids. Let's compare the body to an automobile. If you fuel and maintain your car with good octane fuels, oils and lubrication, it runs good. The same is true with your body. Having raw good foods and supplementing with vitamins and minerals your body will function optimally as well. Now if this same car breaks down, it needs parts to repair it. Right? The same is true with our bodies. If our body begins breaking down, called aging, we need amino acids to rebuild ourselves.

Let me introduce you to one of those very effective amino acids .– L Arginine

L-arginine was first discovered in 1866. It's advancing effects startied revealing themselves in the 1930's when researchers discovered that L-arginine was able to remove ammonia from the body and produce creatine a necessary nutrient. Ammonia is a highly toxic substance. But Arginine's real breakthrough happened in 1998 when Nobel Prize was awarded to 3 scientists for the discovery and role of Nitrous Oxide (NO). However Arginine is also useful for many other things. Due to it's blood flow improving qualities conditions like claudication (pain in the extremities due to restricted arteries), erectile dysfunction and migraine headaches are relieved. Some studies are now revealing that arginine may even be helpful for Dementia and Alzheimers patients which are nothing more than heart attacks of the brain due to low blood flow. It is known to improve immune system response and actually is an effective weight loss supplement. Arginine increases natural HGH production. HGH speeds up the metabolism, reverses the aging process, and speeds up healing processes through the body. Arginine is also a strong anti-inflammatory amino that will improve any condition like arthritis.

Health, Fitnesss and Longevity – Is Anti Aging a Reality?

Let us Look at 3 Aspects: Diet / Detox, Health & Behavior and Cosmetics.

A) Diet and Detox: Good for you or not? There are many kits and remedies available, but do they work and are they safe? Can they be harmful? Do they help in keeping the body healthy and youthful?

Assoc. Professor in nutrition Tim Crowe, at the Deakin University, says no! He believes they can be harmful, and unnecessary. 'If you're in general good health, you've already got a great system in place for ridding the body of waste and toxins. There is no medical evidence to suggest that detox diets do it any sooner or more efficiently. ' At least ten associate experts agreed. 'Some of these detox programs can actually be harmful, as they cut out entire food groups, meaning that you miss out on essential nutrition.'

A common response to this is 'but I feel great after detoxing.' In this case they advise you to look at your normal life style and what you normally eat. While you've been detoxing, you probably cut out a lot of your normal foods which were bad for you anyway, such as salt, sugar, alcohol and caffeine. And any resulting weight loss is quite possibly just fluid, which you will quickly replace.

B) Health & Behavior: Now for something more positive. For those who still hold out for the magic formula, there is hope.

The antioxidant resveratrol, found in red grape, red wine, peanuts and Japanese knotweed, is proving to have anti-inflammatory and anti aging properties. Studies at Harvard Medical School showed that mice given resveratrol actually doubled their endurance capacity and showed considerable immunity from the effects of obesity and aging. It is now also being tested as a treatment for memory loss and melanoma. The secret appears to be that resveratrol increases the activity of the gene SIRT1 that protects us against disease.

Junk Food & Processed Foods, should be avoided. They typically contain high levels of fat and phosphates which accelerate the signs of aging and, in quantity, can induce muscle and skin atrophy.

Do not Smoke! If your any way serious about retarding the effects of old age, you simply can not smoke. Overwhelmingly, non smokers of the same age have better skin with fewer wrinkles, better bones and fewer cataracts. Without going into all the nasties of smoking, statistics show that if you do not smoke, you reduce your risk of dying within the next 15 years by HALF.

Exercise Daily: Too much can not be said on the importance of exercise to keep the body (and mind) young. The 'Archives of Medical Study' after considering work concluded 'daily exercise has a comprehensive effect on the body cells – significantly slowing down the body's aging.

Daily Multivitamin Supplement: It is very important to get sufficient daily doses of Vitamins and Minerals to function properly. By keeping your body (and mind) in good condition you can significantly prolong your lifespan. If you have a busy life or can not always get a balanced diet, consider a good Vitamin & Mineral Supplement. The Harvard School of Public Health states 'today there's quite a bit of evidence that taking a daily multivitamin makes good sense.'

C) Anti Aging Cosmetics: this is the third important topic I had wished to include here, but I just just note it now as imporant and have to cover it in our next article.

Finally, to quote the Desiderata, 'Be careful, Strive to be happy'. Avoid stress and bad relationships if at all possible. This really does poorly effect the body; it effects your general health, immune system, intellect and ages you dramatically. In such cases, Yoga and Meditation are still recommended.

Top Secret to Living Longer

Everyone wants to live longer and we spend a lot of money trying to find the secrets to living a longer life. We buy potions, pills, creams and exercise equipment – all in an effort to maintain or regain our youth. We spend a great deal of our hard earned money to looking younger. Some of it works, but most of it does not.

I have six living uncles and aunts and the YOUNGEST is 90 years old. I have always maintained that the harder you work, the younger you feel. Even though I will soon be 65, I still work and play like I did many years ago. In fact, I work a lot harder today than I did 10 or even 20 years ago and I love to be busy. Being busy helps you to think younger, act younger and look younger, Yes, longevity runs in my family, but more importantly there is an underlying fact that we have all put into practice.

There are too many books on How to Live Longer but there are some very simple recipes for living a successful long life.

First and foremost – Plan on it. Just that simple. Plan on it. You have to plan to live a long time and plan your future, short term and long term. Dream about the future no matter what terrible things lay in your past. No matter what has happened in the past, dream about tomorrow. You can not change yesterday but you CAN change tomorrow. The less you dwell on the past, the more you will dwell on your future. The future is always brighter.

Attitude is crucial to long life. Instead of dwelling on what is wrong with your present state, start thinking about all the good in your life. Instead of talking about your current woes, talk about how bright your future is looking. Find things to be thankful for and see how much better you feel.

Purchasing Department Store Products That Don’t Do the Job? Organic Skin Care Saves the Day!

Many people commonly report that they shop at local department stores and seem to get “reeled in” to cosmetic counters by the lovely aromas, scents, colors, sparkles and all of the “glam” that bombards the senses. Enticed to try different samples of cosmetics / facial care products and perfumes that advertise things like, “look younger in just 14 days,” “take better care of your skin with this scientifically-proven skin care system,” and “this scent will make you absolutely irresistible! ” However, they also report spending too much cash on products that end up not being as effective for skin care as they had hoped.

Some skin care product consumers were recently randomly surveyed, and they report spending an average of $ 75 to $ 100 per visit on department store brands. They report purchasing these products due to being advertised as “all natural” and having only “pure” ingredients, and thought they were buying products that would definitely improve their skin. However, after using the products for some time, they report their skin did not appear to show any signs of “improved wrinkles” or “firmness.” Yet, these surveyed people thought they had closely followed the directions for use of the products they had purchased.

It is interesting to note that, out of sheer frustration, many of these surveyed people report that they began reading product labels and taking more notice of the ingredients listed on the skin care products before purchasing them at department stores, and even from the “All- Natural “shelves of their grocery stores. Oddly, they reported the labels often listed many ingredients that were not at all natural, but chemical.

Some report that they actually researched the products, and they learned that their favorite brands of skin care and cosmetic products for “anti-aging” and “improving skin texture,” actually contained many chemicals that had been shown to actually accelerate the aging of skin. In addition, they found from their small bit of research that using botanical, pure essential oils, ie, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil or Organic Olive Oil on their skin would yield much more effective anti-aging and skin firming results.

According to recent scientific studies, organic botanical oils like these have been found to contain very high natural levels of anti-oxidants, some of nature's strongest anti-aging components. The Importance of Respecting Your Sleep Rhythms

I have always loved sleep. As a child, and right through until the last couple of years, sleep has come easily. On the rare occasion that I did not find a hibernating level of slumber, I would easily recover it with a nap. I generally averaged 9 hours of sleep a night. I used to hear people talk about their problems with sleep and I felt sorry for them. Still, I felt even more sorry for the poor souls who did not see the use of sleep and found fatigue and sleep to be more of an inconvenience. It has been a couple of years now since the youngest of the kids started sleeping right through night. Neverheless, I still find myself sleeping with one eye open. While it is not entirely due to children, I am finding that I now struggle to reach a deep state of sleep and it seems to take a ridiculous amount of time to get there. I have started preparing for sleep as if I was entering a battle and the bed is the battlefield. To win this war, I try to set the stage for success. I cut my caffeine in take off early, I do some exercise everyday, and I even take a melatonin. I take sleep so seriously that I dedicated a chapter of it in the Ekahi Method.

Last night was another example of, despite setting the stage for sleep, I just could not get into the rhythm of sleep. I think I slept three or four hours last night. Fortunately I still have the ability to get an average amount of sleep with a late afternoon nap. I know that this can set a cycle of not being able to sleep later in the evening but I had to do something! It is amazing how lack a few hours of sleep can affect not only your mood but your coordination, cognitive processes, reaction times, balance, and more. On the drive home today, I felt inebrated. I cut off a driver by accident and felt like I was operating in another dimension. My late afternoon nap sorted me right out. Let's take a look at the research surrounding sleep.

How much is needed?

  • cut the caffeine at least 3 hours before bed

  • try a melatonin. These supplements can be purchased over the counter at most health food stores and druggists. Ask your health practitioner about it.
