How to Fix Those Pesky Signs of Aging

What do you do when your body starts to catch up to your age? Or worse when your body starts to look older than you actually are. In America anti aging is a billion dollar industry. That's because no one wants to get older. So we try to put it off as much as possible, before it's inevitable. So if you start to notice one of these signs of aging you can tackle it before it gets out of control.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Since we lose collagen and elastin naturally as we age the best possible treatment is prevention. If you can prevent the loss of collagen and elastin then you can prevent wrinkles and fine lines. Three key ingredients to add to your prevention skin care routine are antioxidants to fight free radicals, sunscreen, and retinoids. For those already experiencing fine lines and wrinkles ask your doctor about Botox, fillers and laser treatments. Botox is used on the forehead for fine lines and crow's feet while fillers are used in your shoulders and lips for laugh lines.

Yellowing Teeth
There are a ton of teeth whitening products on the market. Stick to brush on whitening gels rather than whitening strips. Or if you prefer go to your dentist to get a professional whitening treatment.

Thinning Eyebrows & Eyelashes
Makeup can be used to fill in thinning eyebrows while false eyelashes can be applied daily. But if you are looking for something more permanent you can get your eyebrow tattooed on, which only requires touch ups now and again. Plus Latisse is a new product which can be prescribed by your doctor to stimulate eyelash growth.

Thinning Hair
Roaine has been around for years. It is available over the counter to stimulate hair regrowth. You can also use hair care products which promote body and shape to liven up dull, lifeless hair.

Turkey Neck
The skin around the neck is delicate therefore gently apply a moisturizer that contains peptides to stimulate collagen production. Doctors also offer Botox and Fraxel laser treatments to improve skins texture and soften lines.

Spotted Hands
Always apply sunscreen to the back of your hands to prevent further damage. Light and laser treatments are available to repair and fade sun damage and age spots.

Non-perky Breasts
Check to make sure you are wearing the right size bra and tighten the straps if you are hanging low. Ask for a professional fitting to make sure you have the right size.

Wrinkled Knees & Elbows
Use a moisturizer on knees and elbows to soothe dry skin. To get rid excess skin, try yoga. Yoga will strengthen muscles in the arms and legs which will tighten the surrounding skin.

Sore Feet
Moisturize dry, calloused and cracked feet. Choose more comfortable shoes. Bunions can be removed through surgery or with cortisol injections.

9 Signs of Aging to Watch Out For

We all age, it's just a fact of life. Most people try to erase, hide, or diminish the signs of aging as soon as they appear. That's why plastic surgery, Botox, anti aging remedies and beauty products are in such high demand. But the signs of aging do not just include sagging skin and wrinkles. Here are the nine most common signs of aging.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Probably the most common sign of aging, fine lines and wrinkles appear on the face our most visible asset. As we age we lose collagen and elasticity in the skin. Collagen keeps our skin firm while elastin allows the skin to stretch and return to normal. When we start to lose these compounds the skin sags and creates wrinkles. Repetitive muscle motions over the years such as laughing and squinting leave crows feet around the eyes and lines around the mouth.

Withering Eyebrows & Eyelashes
Although plucking, waxing and priming your eyebrows and eyelashes seem like a harmless part of your beauty routine, they can have damaging effects on your brows and lashes later on. Too much tweezing can damage the follicles making it hard for hair to grow back. As we age the levels of hormones in the body change making it even harder for the body to grow hair. This leaves your eyebrows and eyelashes sparse.

Less than White Teeth
A smile is ones largest asset, but if your pearly whites are not so pearly anymore, it does not make you want to smile. Over the years the food we eat and drink, medicines we take and the acidity in ones saliva wear away tooth enamel. What's left is yellow and gummy making it easier for teeth to absorb stains.

Dull, Thinning Hair
The loss of hair from our head can be caused by many things such as stress, childbirth, medications, hereditary, or aging. Hormone changes in the body can cause natural thinning of the hair, leaving your hair looking dull and lifeless.

Turkey Neck
Crepey skin, or thinning of the dermis, the top layer of skin can cause a turkey neck, the accumulation of sagging skin around the neck. This can occur due to the loss of collagen and elastin which in younger years keeps your skin firm and elastic.

Sagging Breasts
The first thing we lose as we age is muscle mass, this loss of tissue makes breasts lose their fullness, so they seem as if they droop. Additional causes include gravity, breastfeeding feeding, lack of proper support and lower levels of estrogen because of a change in hormone levels.

Spotted Hands
Skin loses volume as we age due to the loss of collagen and elastin making it thinner. Once the skin loses its collagen its easier for veins and sunspots to stand out on the skin. Brown spots appear from years of sun damage.

Wrinkled Knees and Elbows
Without collagen and elastin to hold skin in place, skin begins to sag and thin. Skin accumulates around the knee and elbow joints. Without proper circulation the excess skin can become dry and flaky.

Sore Feet
It's normal for feet to be sore after standing on them all day but imagine doing that for 30 or even 50 years. The stress from the weight of the body on the feet for years and years can cause calluses and cracked heels. Plus for women who wear uncomfortable shoes most of the time, they can end up with painful bunions.

Now that you know what the signs of aging are find out how you can fix them.

Types Of Drivers

Have you ever considered whether people live their lives the way they drive their cars? The jury is still out on answering that one, but if there is a relationship between them, I'll leave it to you to consider any implications.

Next time you're out 'n' about put your observation skills to the test and see whether or not you agree with those that I have identified.

I name one group 'Dozers'. They get their name from dozing-off at traffic lights. It's as if the color red invokes a strange power over them, putting them into a trance-like state. So powerful is this color that, when the light suddenly turns green, the Dozer just fits there as if spellbound. And continuous urging by other drivers hoping for some sign of action, the Dozer just sits there. And when he or she finally wakes up to the fact that others are becoming increasingly impatient, the light resumes its redness. Usually it's only the Dozer who makes it through in time.

Another group are what I call 'Bummers.' They earn their name from their practice of tailgating: they're particularly curious in Queensland. Bummers insist on driving so close that, when you look in the rearview mirror, another car appears to be in the back seat. And accelerating or breaking has little or no effect on the Bummer: they seem hell-bent on staying put. The only way you can rid yourself of them is to pull-over and let them pass.

'Colorblinds' are another type. They're usually males who confuse the colors red, orange, and green. Colorblinds can not be count-on to drive according to the color of the traffic lights. An orange light could result in acceleration to avoid stopping when the light changes to red, or it could mean stopping in preparation for a change to red. And their action this time does not mean that it will be repeated next time. Just because a light changes color, it can not be assumed that colorblinds will continue, accelerate, or stop.

'Frog-Kissers' get their name from the many fairy stories where someone must confront their fear by kissing the frog. The beautiful princess, for example, must kiss the frog if her Prince Charming is to materialize. Frog-Kissers behind the wheel can be a danger to themselves and to others. How they ever got a license to drive is a mystery. Their fear of driving is exceeded only by their determination to bring to life the joy that the advertisers pose as part of the driving experience.

'Staccatoes' are stop-starters who speed-up, slow-down, and stop-dead for no apparent reason. Just when you think it's safe to follow the car in front, its brake lights come on, indicating a slow-down. Not only does this happen without warning, there's seemingly no reason for this action. And when you decide to pass, true to their type, Stocatoes accelerate again-without warning, of course.

'WHOGAS'ers' are the scariest of all types. WHOGAS is an acronym for 'Who Gives AS ***. These drivers are the ones who cruise along, ostensibly without a care in the world. (As the saying goes: if they were any more relaxed, they'd be fly-blown.) They may even appear to be sleep behind the wheel: it seem as though they really do not give as ***. Their mantra seems to be, 'This car is helping me get from A to B. Nothing else matters'.

As you see by my descriptions, if people live their lives the way they drive, society could have problems. If your driving-type did not get a mention, how would you describe it?

5 Ways To A Younger Looking Face

When it comes to our younger years it's true that we do not know what we've got till it's gone. But now, more than ever, there are several options to keep it from slipping away. Here are 5 ways to keep your face looking young, refreshed and beautiful without having to go through surgery.

1) Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid treatments such as Juvederm keep growing in popularity each year. And with good reason: just one treatment with Juvederm dermal filler can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for up to one year! Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are a great choice for enhancement of the lips and shoulders; to reduce under eye hollows (tear trough deformities); erase wrinkles around the mouth and smile lines (Nasolabial Folds, Marionette Lines); and to non-surgically correct imperfections of the nose such as bumps and hooks).

2) Botox
Botox works by weakening the overactive muscles which lead to wrinkles of the frown lines between the brows, forehead wrinkles, crow's feet near the eyes, and thick bands in the neck. Botox provides real, noticeable results, without surgery or the need for recovery time. Each Botox treatment lasts around 4 months.

3) Ultherapy
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to lift and tighten skin on the neck, chin and brow. This unique new treatment uses ultrasound technology to stimulate the body's creation of new collagen. As a result, skin will actually begin to lift and tone over time. The Ultherapy facial lifting procedure is completely non-invasive and natural. There are no needles, no incisions, and no anesthesia involved. Most people need just one treatment, which takes less than an hour, and results may last for over a year.

4) Skin Care Products
There are 1000's of skin care products out there that will claim to take years off your face. But take it from us-do not waste your money on any skin care products that are not prescription grade. Usually, the most effective skin care products can only be bought from licensed aestheticians or physician's offices. Some other useful tips:

  • Sunscreen should be used any time you step foot out of the house. Make sure you are using at least an SPF 35. This will adequately shield you from the damaging effects of the sun and UV rays.
  • If you have dry skin, then moisturizer is a must. There are multiple long-lasting ones that will keep your skin hydrated for up to 8 hours.
  • Chemical Peels can by a good way to treat photodamaged skin and hyperpigmentation. However, do your research before committing to a chemical peel because they are not all alike and can cause severe skin damage when not done by a properly trained and experienced individual.

5) Lifestyle Modifications
This may be the easiest way to save your face. Here are some daily changes you can make to fight off premature aging:

  • Get enough sleep. Sleep is definitely underrated when it comes to skin care. Make sure you get enough sleep to keep you from looking tired and decrease those bags underneath your eyes.
  • Eat healthy. There are plenty of foods which are high in anti-oxidants and Vitamin C. Both are important in providing your skin with nutrients and stimulating the production of collagen.
  • Easy on the Coffee. Caffeine is a diuretic, which means it causes our bodies to lose water. This is exactly what we do not want to happen to our skin! Try switching to water instead.
  • Keep your shades on. Wearing sunglasses will decrease squinting and slow down the appearance of crow's-feet around the eyes and frown lines.
  • Stay away from tanning beds. They actually slow down the skin repairing process and can cause premature wrinkle formation.
  • Do not smoke! Smoking is like poison for your skin. It breaks down the collagen and elastin which you have worked so hard to build. Not only that, it also decrees blood flow to the skin and delays wound healing. And lets not forget those nasty smokers lines!

Oxidative Stress – Why Is Oxidative Stress So Deadly?

While many people may have heard of the words “antioxidant” or “free radical,” many have never heard of the term “oxidative stress.” The three terms actually go hand in hand and are more related than you might think. Hopefully, after reading this article, you will have a better idea of what oxidative stress is, how it can harm out bodies, and what solutions are out there to help fight it. In addition, you will realize why all three of these terms are related to one another.

Q: What is oxidative stress?

A: Physiological imbalance in our bodies that creates free radicals and can potentially harm our body's defense system.

Q: Why is this harmful to my body?

A: Whenever your body has free radicals, it means there are tons of little ions looking for a free electron. Whenever these ions can not find one, they bounce around our bodies damaging our DNA and the functioning of our cells.

Q: Can you give any proof this happens?

A: Think of whenever an engine rumors or fruit goes bad. These events happen due to oxidation in the air. While we do need oxygen, too much exposure and harsh chemicals in the air, do damage to the surroundings.

Q: How can this damaging cells and DNA hurt my body?

A: Your DNA and cells are responsible for numerous activities that go on in your body. In particular, it is important for your body's defense system. A low immune system means that you are more prone to disease, and extremely aging.

Q: Are there any illnesses related to oxidative stress?

A: In humans it is thought to be involved in the development of heart failure, cancer, Parkinson's disease, Sickle Cell Disease, autism, Alzheimer's disease, high blood pressure, and numerous others.

Q: What is the most unusual thing you have heard it being linked to?

A: Dental Plaque

Q: Is there any way to stop oxidative stress from happening?

A: This is where antioxidants come in. These are made up of certain kinds of fruits and vegetables as well as many juices and vitamins.

Q: Is there any downside to using these methods?

A: While there is no downside, consider this. We have around 300,000,000,000,000,000,000 (three hundred sextillion) free radicals in our body. Whenever we consume one antioxidant, it eliminates one free radical. Unfortunately, with this method, we can not even begin to make a dent in the number.

Q: Is there any other solution?

A: Fortunately, there is. There is one useful thing out there that can eliminate 1 million free radicals per second, all day. This makes it much more effective than any antioxidant you can ingest from fruits, vegetables, or vitamins.

While antioxidants are very useful at combating free radicals and oxidative stress, it is not the most effective way to do so. There are other methods out there that can make a much larger impact and possibly help REVERSE this aging in your body. I hope you were able to learn a lot and now understand the huge role oxidative stress plays in our lives.

Whatever imperfections you have on your skin will be barely noticeable.

To regain the tightness of your skin, one medical intervention that produces great results is Thermage. Unfortunately, you need to be mentally strong to tolerate the pain.

The sound waves will be focusing on tissues that lie deeper into the skin. Because of the microscopic tears in the skin caused by the sound waves, it will stimulate the collagen production. This should take care of loose and sagging areas.

It takes up to six months to see impressive results, which among them are tighter skin. Unfortunately, some patients find it too hard to take. Even with the help of pain relievers, they find that the radio frequency is too painful.

For those who can not reach the ceiling of pain, it is not the end. You still have other choices. You should find out about nonablative eTwo laser from your dermatologist. It combines radio frequency and infrared-light pulses, directing them into the skin. You will experience comparable results just like the Thermage. And you do not have to experience so much pain. If you want best results, make sure you have three sessions. Each session should be one month apart.

For fast results, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels is one of the most effective dermatological practices to manage uneven skin tone. At the end of the treatment, you will end up with scabs. But no worries as they will go away in two weeks.

If scabby is not your thing, then you are lucky today. You can find a milder TCA peel, produced by Glytone. With 25 percent TCA, the outermost layer of the skin will be free from any contact with the ingredient. Thanks to its unusual delivery system. Without injuring the top of the epidermis, there is no damage. This will allow you to have zero scabbing.

Although you have to deal with dryness and mild flaking for a week, but this treatment is still worth spending because of its long-lasting and immediate results. In general, you simply need one session to enjoy a more skin tone and brighter complexion.

Belotero Balance can turn tiny lines into hardly any lines. This new hyaluronic acid filler just received the approval from the FDA. What makes it unique is that it distributes even more often than clumping together like other fillers. This removes the needs of injecting it deep into the tissue.

The immediate smoothing of the shallow lines is possible because the filler has tiny particles and malleable texture. At the same time, the surface of the skin is free of bumps. So it works well on fine lines around the lips and even crow's feet. The needle only affects the exterior of the skin, so you will discover much less bruising involved.

Must We Always Act Our Age?

George Burns said, “I look to the future because that's where I'm going to spend the rest of my life.”

Age is a state of mind. If that is true, must we always act our age? I do not think so! I recently was thrilled to celebrate my 65th birthday earlier this month. I celebrated by attending a workshop entitled “Aging as a Spiritual Practice.” I found out that our perceptions and our ways of thinking can age us faster than the clock.

Spirits are the true essence of who we are, not our bodies. Spirit is ageless, timeless and deathless. Yet we continuously remind ourselves and others that we are becoming more limited physically and / or mentally as time goes on. How many times have you said, as I have, “Oh, I forgot that because I'm having a senior moment,” or “I used to be able to do that longer … or faster … or better .. “? How often do we buy into a youthful society's message that says if you're over 30 you're not worth very much? We're the first people to limit ourselves by believing and integrating these attributions as we get older.

Yes, our bodies are flesh that does deteriorate over time, but there's nothing more limiting than saying stuff like “Oh, my legs hurt this morning when I got up. OR it may be because yesterday you were so thrilled it quit raining that you went for a 5 mile walk!

When a bunch of seniors get together, what's one of the first things they do? Compare medicines they're taking, or HMO's or recent aches and pains. They talk about fun stuff like babysitting grandkids followed quickly by, “Glad I'm not the parent of a youngster. I'm certainly guilty of focusing on the impact of an aging body. So, what to do? The Handbook of Religion and Health by Koenig, et al, indicates that people who have a regular religious attendance or practice live, on average, 7 years longer than those who do not. There are things we can do to make the best use of those extra years.

In my opinion, a spiritual practice can help in focusing on the more positive aspects of getting older. But it does take a little work. “Oh, no, I have to work?” C'mon people, if you're retired you can make a little time for yourself. It's nothing difficult or complicated. And, if you're not retired, do what you can. Listen to what you say about aging and the habits you're beginning to form about how old is a sink hole.

Two main ways I find that work for me are (1) meditating and (2) spending time with people who are older than I am. Gee, does not meditating work for everything !? It reinforces the ability to focus and stay sharp about what's really important in life – as opposed to the correct spelling of the anti-reflux medicine you're taking. The spiritual inquiry of spending time with people older than ourselves is a generous gift. It reinforces to them as our elders that we value their presence and it reminds us what to do or not to do as we age.

There's personally another thing I do to age spiritually and that's a few minutes of online games like Solitaire in the morning with my coffee. Okay, not exactly spiritual, but doing this means me to ads aimed at younger people and I like being up on what the younger generation is doing. Doing online games is also a process that keeps my brain darting about. I make sure the game is not so complicated that I never have a chance in heck of winning but not so easy that I know I must be ill if I do not win every game.

Lewis Richmond recently reminded us, “Every day and every day for the next twenty years, 10,000 baby boomers will turn 65.” Longevity trends coupled with this fact mean we'll have a lot of company. Personally, I'd rather listen to an oldster talk about how he met his wife 50 years ago than comparing swollen joints.

Certainly getting older with illness can be debilitating and difficult to rise above. I will try to deal with that if and when it happens. In the meantime, I will work to accept aging gracefully and not worry about whether I'm acting my age or not.

Ways to Know You’re Getting Older

If you're a senior citizen like me, you know what's coming when you hear or see the phrase `You know you're getting old when … 'How many times have you read or hear funny endings to that statement?

• You know you're getting old when you're the only one who knows how to use a rotary phone.
• You know you're getting old when happy hour is a nap.
• You know you're getting old when you feel like the morning after but you have not been anywhere.

Then there are the real, less funny responses. You know you're getting old when you wake up in the morning with aches and pains in most joints or when you have to pee a dozen times during the night. I've certainly felt old when I've forgotten where I've placed something … something basic like car or house keys, purse, library book, etc.

Do you find yourself joking about having a 'senior moment'? We may chuckle to mask the tiny sense of terror the lost object, forgotten name, or brain fart wreaks havoc on our psyche. But I think we all freeze in that moment realizing we're not as agile, physically or mentally, as we once were.

One of the last places I expected to feel old was at a recent 49ers game. My friend and I had traveled to San Francisco on a tour bus. We did not have to deal with traffic or parking – a true luxury in my opinion. In addition, we were being feted in one of the team suites, which provided food and drink and monitors to watch up close anything our bi-focaled eyes may have missed on the field.

I should mention that after having been to other games during my lifetime, I've always thought more of the actual game and play-by-play was to be viewed from the comfort of my living room. To experience the live event, however, is thrilling and not to be missed, if you get the chance. Seeing it live shows you what goes on during commercials, for instance, and what happens on the periphery of the actual play.

Well, folks, it's what happens on the periphery that made me feel old at this recent game. The noise level of the roaring fans alone was unsafe (especially for old people with hearing aides such as me) at 85dB for the entire 3+ hour game. In addition, on the sideline were:
• Cheering cheerleaders (okay, you could not really hear them, but they were distracting course, which added to general confusion)
• A group of 20 boisterous rally squad guys who screamed, jumped on railroads and seats through the stadium
• The 49er mascot
• A combo of at least 12 drummers on base drums moving around the stadium
• Another 7 guys on horns backing up the drummers
• All the camera / TV equipment and staff moving up and down the sideline following the movement of the players.
• Flag bearers who'd wave flags as big as a house on the sideline and then meet up for a celebration dance in the middle of the field after each touchdown
• All the staff related to the above participants: supervisors, technicians, facilitators, water boys, ball boys, linesmen, trainers, and other players

In addition, during the halftime there were at least two hundred other performers and different band participants who performed for the 35,000+ crowd. Where were they keeping all these folks before and after the half ???

And that was just 'down there,' on the field. Up in our suite, we had friends cheering and yelling conversations with other people in our group. There were also numerous TV monitors up on the walls of the suite, some showing the game we were viewing and others showing the SF Giants game, which I was also interested in. And if that was not enough, retired players such as Dwight Clark and others I did not recognize would make the round of suites to allow for autographs and picture taking. I have a bunch of pictures on my camera of ex-football players I have no clue who they might be.

Do I sound like I'm complaining? Well, I'm not. It was so much fun to have this experience. I was grateful that I was given this opportunity and that I was able to share it with friends. At the same time, however, it felt like it was too much; too much noise, too much to look at, too much to eat and drink, too much to do / see / hear / feel and just too much to take in.

In spite of being exhausted, near deaf, with blood-shot eyes and heartburn, I'll never forget this day. I'll never forget the smell of forbidden Polish dogs, the smile on the face of the young ticket-taker, the serious look of stadium security staff and the memories of being with friends for a once-in-a-lifetime event.

I say bring on more opportunities to feel old if it means I get to enjoy and complain about opportunities like this!

4 Tips to Live a Toxic Free Life

Many of us are trying to do the right things to lead healthy lives. We always wear our seat belts. We exercise regularly. We do not smoke and we try to eat healthy. In our modern world these things may not be enough. Many chemicals that we are exposed to everyday may increase our risk of cancer. Unfortunately, when chemicals are tested for safety they are tested by themselves. In today's world rarely is one chemical used by itself, rather they combine with many other chemicals. It is that chemical interaction that has many of us concerned. One toxin may harmless but regular does of many toxins may be another issue all together.

1. Eat organic when possible. The pesticides on or in the food you consume are stored in your fatty tissue and organs. Tender flesh fruit like strawberries require lots of pesticides because they are close to the ground.

2. Give up plastic water bottles and canned foods. Bisphenol A is found in many plastic water bottles, in some cling wraps and in the lining of many can goods. This chemical can increase the risk of breast and prostate cancers. Try fresh or frozen vegetables in place of canned ones (they taste better too).

3. Leave your shoes at the door. Just think about the places you that you have walked through in a given day. Do you want to bring that in your home? Maybe you went to the grocery store. Not only did you walk through the store but you have to cross the parking lot too. Maybe while at the store you visited the restroom. Possible you walked across someone's lawn laden with chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The majority of dirt, pesticides and chemicals that come in our home, come in on our shoes.

4. Forgo cologne or perfume. I like wearing perfume BUT Most of the chemicals used in fragrances are chemicals compounds that come from petroleum and are carcinogens like benzene. Many perfumes and beauty product fragrances have been found to contain phthalates which have been shown to cause birth defects. Keep in mind that what is in a fragrance is a trademark secret and is not listed on the label. You do not have to give up all perfumes there are wonderful perfumes made from natural oils that are not harmful.

Just a few simple changes in lifestyle can go a long way to living a more toxic free life!

Is Korean BB Cream Really an All-In-One Solution?

Since 2010, Korean BB cream has been a hit in the cosmetic and beauty industry across the globe. Like its predecessors, it has positioned itself as the ideal all-in-one solution. Unfortunately, many consumers have become wary of any product that promises the ability to take care of multiple beauty problems simultaneously. This raises the question of whether or not Korean cream should really be considered an all-in-one solution.

The best place to start is with what this cream says it can do. Most creams state they are a combination moisturizer, primer, sun screen, foundation, and anti-aging cream. To find out if Korean cream can really replace all of these products, it is critical to take a closer look at the ingredients. The easiest product to see BB creams replicate is sun screen. There is no doubt that this creams offer a certain level of SPF protection. In fact, most of them are at least an SPF 30. This ensures they offer effective sun protection. In fact, this is equal to or greater than the amount of sun protection recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology. Many creams take it a step further by adding zinc oxide or titanium oxide. This not only provides a physical sunblock but also makes them water resistant.

These creams are tinted, which means they can act as a foundation replacement. The key is choosing a BB cream that is the correct color for the skin it will be applied to. When selecting the cream color, the same process should be followed that is used when selecting a foundation color.

Many Korean creams also include a number of ingredients which have been proven to be effective moisturizers. These ingredients are typically hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Not only are they excellent moisturizers, but they are often considered to be the key ingredients in popular stand-alone moisturizers.

The final ability BB creams promise is anti-aging properties. Great BB creams includes a number of ingredients which have proven anti-aging properties. For example, licorice and arbutin are great at helping someone even out their skin tone. Mica is another beneficial ingredient because it helps create a luminous, youthful finish. Plus, the additional of silicone-based ingredients like dimethicone can smooth out skin. This not only acts a primer but can help eliminate the appearance of small wrinkles.

Like any beauty product, the key to success is in the ingredients. It is important to remember that all Korean BB cream is the same. Always take a close look at the ingredients to discover which one is right for a particular type of skin.

Five Tips To Achieve Younger Looking Eyes

As they say, the eyes are the windows to one's soul. But apparently, it could also be the windows to one's age. Unknown to many, the eye area is the first area of the face to show signs of skin aging. This area is one of the first areas that we see on a person, so we really have to pay extra care to our eye area to achieve a much youthful aura. Let me share to you some ways on how to do so.

1. Avoid rubbing your eyes.

As we age, the skin around our eyes loses its elasticity and it becomes even thinner due to collagen breakdown. Rubbing and tugging of this delicate area due to allergies, crying, eye makeup application and removal can make the skin sag over time. You can compare our eye area to a rubber band. Constant tugging and pulling can make it lose its elasticity so avoid rubbing, and even touching your eye area.

2. Avoid smoking.

Nicotine can narrow down the blood vessels in the face especially the skin under our eyes. If our blood vessels become narrow, it is much more difficult for nutrients to be absorbed. If it's not properly absorbed, it can lead to collagen breakdown and a wrinkly eye area.

3. Stay out of the sun.

Just like any other parts of the face, unprotected exposure to the sun can cause our pigment producing cells to mature abnormally. As an effect, age spots and pigmentation will develop in our skin. Unprotected exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays is one of the main culprit in premature skin aging so it's important to stay protected by wearing sunblock and wearing eyeglasses whenever going out.

4. Be careful of what you're putting in the eye area.

The creams and cosmetics that you put on your eye area can affect your skin in a great way. Because the skin is much thinner there, it absorbs substances much faster than elsewhere. Some creams and cosmetics contain harmful ingredients so it's important to choose your eye products well.

5. Do not skimp on sleep.

Sure, there are so many eye creams out there that promises youth in just seven days. But if you do not get sufficient rest every day, no amount of cream can prevent dark circles and eye bags. While it is true that eye creams can do the trick in improving the appearance of dark circles and eye bags, they can not really prevent and remove them. Plenty of sleep is the key. And it's free!

Free Radicals – Why Free Radicals May Be The Silent But Deadly Killer In Our Bodies

Imagine that inside your body, there are a bunch of little monsters carrying hammers. And these monsters decide they do not like you, so they begin beating away at your DNA and cell membrane. Because of this, your cells are now damaged and this has opened the pathway for diseases. In essence, this is what free radicals do to our body. Instead of little monsters though, they are actually groups of atoms with an odd number of electrons. If you can recall from chemistry (one of my favorite subjects), electrons like to be in pairs. Whenever an atom has an unpaired electron, it goes crazy trying to find another electron to pair up with. Because these atoms often times can not find a free electron, they bounce around our body and damage our DNA and the cell membrane. Now one unpaired electron may not cause much damage, but what about a large number of them? To put it in perspective, imagine a 3 followed by 23 zeros. This is what it would look like:

300 million,000,000,000,000,000,000. It is believed that this is the number of free radicals an average person has in their body. Now, imagine that many atoms (three hundred sextillion) damaging our cells constantly.

You may be telling yourself, “Okay that's bad, but how do they get in my body?”

Lucky for you, all you have to do is follow these three simple tips, and I can ensure you will not have any free radicals! First, do not eat anything. Second, do not consume any liquid. And finally, do not breathe! Not as easy as it sounds right? The unfortunate truth is that whenever we eat, drink, or even breathe, our bodies take in pollution. This pollution comes from oxidation in the air such as when an engine rumors or fruit goes bad. And whenever we consume any food, or breathe in air, we are being exposed to this oxidation. That oxidation is the driving force behind free radicals being released in our body.

Now that we know what they are and how we get them, how can we stop them?

First, I should point out, that the free radical number is different in everyone. For example, the number increases for anyone who smokes or drinks regularly. So, all you have to do is exercise and eat healthy, right? WRONG. What's even more surprising is that people who exercise fortimes breathe heavy, and consume 10-20 times more oxygen than those who do not. Which means that those exercise receive more oxidation in their body and their number drastically increases.

If exercising does not help, then what does?

One way in which we can reduce the number of free radicals is to consume antioxidants. Antioxidants are typically found in foods such as dark chocolate, blueberries, cranberries, apples, black plums, black beans, etc. What is the problem with this? Well, for starters, antioxidants can only reduce free radicals on a one to one basis. This means that if you consume one antioxidant serving, you get rid of one free radical. Now, even if I consumed 100 servings of blueberries, would I even be making a dent in the free radical number? Unfortunately, the answer is no. If you take away 100 from three hundred sextillion, you basically still have three hundred sextillion. Lucky for us, there are alternative methods out there to decrease the number of free radicals we have! When utilizing these other methods, we are able to not only reduce the number, but we are able to keep our cells healthy, and possibly prevent diseases from coming into our body.

Turmeric – Could Turmeric Be the Ancient Medicine Your Body Needs?

Chances are you may have heard of turmeric from one place or another, but you may still be unaware of what it can be used for. Originating in India about 2500 years ago, this powerful plant was initially used as a dye and later cultured as a spice. Although it can be used as a spice, studies have revealed new uses for the ancient herb in modern day medicine. These studies have shown that it may help fight infections as well as help with treating digestive problems in addition to several other conditions.

Here are seven findings where turmeric can possibly alleviate certain health-related conditions:

1. Indigestion- May reduce symptoms of bloating and gas. Stimulates the gall bladder to produce bile, extremely improving digestion.

2. Ulcerative Colitis- A type of inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the rectum and large intestine, it reduces inflammation in symptoms related to this disease.

3. Osteoarthritis- Helps reduce pain and disability caused by inflammation

4. Heart Disease- Helps prevent the buildup of plaque that can block arteries and eventually lead to a heart attack or stroke. Since it stops plates platelets from clumping together, it may also prevent blood clots from building up along the walls of arteries.

5. Cancer- May help prevent or treat several types of cancers including prostate, breast, skin, and colon cancer. Because it's a strong antioxidant, it protects cells from damage that gives it a preventive effect.

6. Bacterial and Viral Infections-Animal studies suggest that it may kill certain bacteria and viruses but it is unsure whether this would work in people.

7. Uveitis- It may help treat uveitis which is an inflammation of the eye's iris.

As you can see, turmeric is not only a spice that can be used in cooking, but has its own place in modern day medicine. While studies are still being conducted to see just how effective this herb can be, it's a great step in medicine. With this information in mind, there may be numerous herbs and natural ingredients out there that can help us fight various diseases. In addition, combining certain herbs and spices with one another may yield even greater benefits when it comes to reversing the effects of aging in our body. Fortunately, there is already a solution out there that can help our bodies in the fight against aging. Turmeric, while powerful, is part of a much larger picture when it comes to potentially fighting diseases and reversing aging.
